I have nothing but excellent things to say about this company. I've had my greenhouse for 7 years now and it is the best money I've ever spent. Very well built with reliable thermostats controlling heat and ventilation. The owner & employees were great to work with and quick to replace a heater that malfunctioned.

I have a lean-to style attached to my house so no walking through rain or snow to putter with my plants. So mentally therapeutic in the winter to be surrounded by greenery!

Caryliss, I've been looking into them, as well, and had the same question about using them to install. Can you tell us about your experience?

Yes, Arcadia did the install and everything went very well. While their kits could probably be installed by anyone with construction skills it was worth it to have the experts do it. They coordinated very well with the electricians and contractors who were doing other work on my house at the same time. And they are just the nicest group of people you'll ever meet.

I highly recommend a lean-to style. It becomes another room of the house that just happens to be filled with plants.

The sides are single pane glass. Because the greenhouse faces the street we chose glass since it is more attractive and gave a more "conservatory" feeling. I really wish I could have afforded the double pane for the better insulation. The greenhouse is on the west side of the house and gets hit with all the winter winds. If you can go with polycarbonate for the better insulation.

There are a few DIY things you can do to insulate in the winter. Some people use bubble wrap applied to the inside of the glass. I used the shrink wrap window insulation stuff (such as made by 3M or Frost King). A bit of a pain to apply but works very well.

I've found the most heat loss occurs around the door, so I seal it shut for the winter. Since it's a lean to with a door to the house I still have access.

So in summary--do it! You won't regret it
