IMO leave it for a while I sure hope you are not hanging the TV above that FP. If colors look yellow in your space the first thing to check is your lighting IMO all bulbs in LED 4000K will take away the yellow glow.Are you keeping the carpet?

In this case I would suggest leaving the brick fireplace as is but I would suggest painting your cabinetry. I'm guessing you probably wouldn't want to do that as you pointed out that they are cherry. Even so, I think you they would benefit from painting. Good luck!

Thanks. Part of the problem is that the room connects to the kitchen and it’s the same cabinets in the kitchen. I would love to update it all but I don’t have the budget. 😟

I like the cherry cabinetry. The blue pad should be removed and perhaps a better piece of art over the fireplace. Any thought to adding a nice wood mantel?

I can see that the brick appears dated but I agree with your hesitation to paint. Why don’t you do your other improvements - flooring, lighting, wall painting, etc. first before you decide?

I would add a mantel only and remove the cushioned area. Otherwise leave as is.

Is your fireplace a gas one? If so, how about taking the hearth (blue pad and bricks under it) off and make it more modern looking. If you need to patch the bricks on the bottom of your fireplace, you could use the bricks from the hearth. Should do it before you do the flooring. A brighter colored picture over the fireplace would look nice also. I think Alabaster would look good with your brick.
