Why not? I would.

since the first tree ... they have been self mulching with their own falling leaves ...

it only until we came along.. and decided to grow grass under them.. that it came into vogue.. to rake up all the self created mulch.. and ship it away ...

if its within your own design concept to allow such.. go for it ...

ps: i never understood all the peeps who have pines.. and every year rake all the needles up.... and then complain.. nothing will grow under there .. and what should they do ... well.. duh.. leave the needles there ... its often easier... in fact usually easier.. to work with ma nature.. rather than fight her ...

Thank you both so much!! I will keep on sweeping them under, at least until the pile gets too high.

When they do get to be too high, eject them onto the lawn and mow them into it. It's something we Pennsylvanians do every year (if we're smart) with our deciduous trees.

I'd kill for a tree that constantly shed leaves into the lawn and that I got to mow in all year long. :-)

No lawn? Favor other trees and shrubs with the delicious organic bounty.

Don't feel like it? Ship them to me, I'll use them....

That sounds like a great idea, morpheuspa. It is such a good idea to compost whenever possible.
