I was wondering what Zebra blinds were. In the event that anyone else is - here they are.

without pictures or any indication of your home's style all suggestions are a shot in the dark

Have you looked at sheer shades? I prefer those to the zebras - I feel like zebra shades block an awful lot of light/view in the open position.

I want blinds that mostly disappear when we want the windows open, but don’t look tacky when closed. Preferably light filtering, not darkening. I’ll post a pic of my space below.

I also have 3 windows In master bedroom

Arched window in kids room, I will want blackout in here but not sure what to do about the arch

I’ve been agonizing over window treatments for an absurd amount of time. We are looking for something similar to what you describe. Initially wanted sheer shades (similar to Hunter Douglas Silhouette), got a sample for the powder room and they actually block way more light in the open position than I was expecting! And since they are pricey I decided I wasn’t going to pay a premium for something that would either be rolled up during the day, or used with the vanes in the closed position at night. So we’ll be doing very simple inside mount roller shades - likely reverse roll with no cassette, but going to order a sample with a cassette to see if I like the look. Cellulars look a little bit utilitarian to me for the living room, but modern rollers come in all sorts of nice textured fabrics and even wood-look. Unlike real woven woods there is no large stack to block the top of the window.

Zebra Blinds or Double Roller Shades and Honeycomb Shades have a complete different design effect to your home as well as a different function. You will not be able to achieve black out with a zebra blinds - so this is out in your kids room. For the rest of your rooms you can use them - best as outside mount if you dont have enough depth in your window casings.
