What furniture needs to stay? Which door is the entry door?

We are open to changing all furniture and swapping for whatever looks best. The entry door is the one by the long mirror. Thanks!

Just for a start, I would move the two gray chairs to flank the fireplace. That will ease the bowling alley effect. Adding a rug would also warm up the space -- maybe a red tribal type flat weave rug.

Give us a drawn floor plan with measurements. Is this space in addition to a living room? The first room through the front door is usually either an entry hall with access to other rooms, or it IS the living room.

Do you always use this path to the kitchen?

May be move mirror over console and get wall art over mantle?

Its a long room so the long mirror is just doubling its length visually. Remove that. Looks like you may use this as an office/bar combo, so I'm guessing there is another room for TV/family time and entertaining. Without that information, we're a bit lost as to the function of this space other than as a passageway to the kitchen. Do you have a dining room adjacent to the kitchen? This room might work that way. Is there another route to the kitchen or do you always bring groceries in through the front door and on to the kitchen? I see a back door by the fridge; is that the way you come in from shopping? I think you might consider closing that doorway with a pair of French doors with frosted glass that hides the view of the fridge. You could also do a custom plantation shutter over that opening and actually place seating in front of it as you would with any window.

Thanks. We do have a separate dining room off the other side of the kitchen and a separate tv room. We used to have French doors there but removed them because we felt it got in the way. We mostly use this entry room as a passage to the kitchen. It just looks so unfinished and not very inviting/put together when you walk in the house.

I like the mirror over fireplace.

Instead of the two chairs, I would bring in some type of chaise in front of fireplace/windows.

With some type of folding screen to cover office area.

And I might consider bringing in a different console on left of fireplace - to give it a bit more entry presence.

You need to add furnishings with ROUND lines to take focus off that long straight room. I would add a circular rug in front of the fireplace with 2 round back chairs placed at an angle across from the fireplace. Then I would get a decorative screen to block off the desk area. Here’s an example of furnishings to break up all those straight lines in your room.
