2 year old couch, gaps between cushions when you sit down...help!

My couch is a basic couch from Jerome's, less than 2 years old ("Albany" is the model). Probably a mistake in the first place, but I'm hoping for suggestions to help it be comfortable again.

Manufacturer says:

1.8 high density foam, sinuous springs, and mixed hardwood frame.

But holy moley, this couch gets more miserable every single day. When you sit, the seat cushions part so there are 2-3 inch gaps and your butt hits the springs. The cushions don't "sag" exactly, they just seem to flatten and you can feel the front frame of the couch where your legs hang over. (I had a beat-up sectional that was FAR more comfortable!)

Multiple DIY solutions call for adding batting or foam to the existing seat cushion foam, or replacing foam/batting entirely. The fabric is taught, the cushions are not warped, there is no "butt imprint". Unzipped, the inside foam looks brand new (it's 5.5" thick with another .5 inch foam on top and batting around it all). I'm worried that "overstuffing" the cushions might cause cheap upholstery seams to burst. I'm also not sure I'd improve anything by replacing the foam since 1.8 seems to be the standard? There must be some other measure of quality I'm missing.

I just want to cry, or possibly punch a couch cushion, but I'd probably hurt my hand.
