Boo, all my peaches froze this year, we had 24F a couple of days in the middle of May, right when the peaches were in full bloom, unfortunately. Good thing I canned lots of "Peachy" things last year! My peaches are a very late and unknown variety and they are never ripe until October. They are also clingstones, I don't know why Dad planted those, geez. Anyway...

My son in law loves the peach salsa I canned the past few years, so I make that whenever I have peaches. I also make peach preserves and can peach slices, those are used for cobblers and crisps later in the winter.

I'm very lucky to get peaches at all. Our May weather was crazy 70 degrees one weekend, snow the next weekend... all while the peaches were in bloom. We also had a hot dry summer. Hot & dry are rarely words you use to describe upstate / central NY! I decided to try and make a peach BBQ sauce today. Something a little different than what I'd normally make. Yesterday I made the peach rum sauce. Yum!

I apparently like the same peach recipes as Annie. The Ball peach salsa recipe, and canned peach slices. I do those in a honey syrup, and use both the peaches and syrup to flavor yogurt.

Boo, it was approximately the same here, in the 90s and no rain for a month, it was terrible, I only got about half the hay I usually get because I can sprinkle the garden but have no way to water hay or pasture. (sigh) So, an extra beef will go into the kids' freezers this year, I won't have enough hay to feed them through the winter if I keep all the breeding stock I want to keep. Ah well, it's how farming goes...

Anyway, there are few peaches here for sale either, they are all coming from "down south" and they aren't wonderful by the time they get here in Northern Michigan!

I would like to get enough to make a batch of Doris' "Peach Jam for Cold Mornings", though.
