Home Exterior update suggestions

Looking for ideas to update the exterior of our home: (new color scheme, trim colors, shutters, accents, possibly painting the brick)

The brick facade is "stately" and boring. We have painted stucco on the back and sides of our home that would be repainted to coordinate. There is cedar siding and trim around the dormer.

The drive for updating the exterior color scheme is the result of planning for replacement windows to be installed next year. Our HOA approved windows are either WHITE or TAN/BEIGE.... The current windows are a beige/almond color. We are likely going to choose WHITE windows as the focus of the design. Black windows are NOT an option and our HOA request was already denied. I'm bummed. So please don't suggest that.

I would prefer to get away from the beige color scheme and look to something more modern. The shingles have some darker grey, lighter grey and red tones similar to the brick. There are some areas of brick that are darker/grey in color but are very scattered.

Can anyone help spark some ideas for us please??

Its very traditional to do all white windows on Georgian homes. I think you need to lean into that once you've selected the white windows, painting the trim in the same shade. You don't really have any windows suitable for shutters, so focus eyes on your front door area. I'd lower the hedges so they aren't covering any of the windows. Consider moving that small tree that's blocking the view of the home. Change the garage doors so there are windows. If they'll let you do it, paint your lantern lights black to match the front door and do the sidelights the same.

Your home is beautiful and classic! I would not try to update it by changing colors, but rather by getting new garage doors with windows, replacing lights with something spiffy and maybe painting the sidelights to match the door.

I never thought about the garage doors!! The problem is we NEED replacement windows and don't want beige trim. Will white windows be too white and too much contrast against the brick?

Are you allowed to paint the trim/gutters/dormer? I would paint or get new garage doors and front door, new lights and some tall planters and new house numbers.

@Sibylle yes I can paint the dormer siding and trim.... only approved HOA colors though (variety of white, light to medium beige and light to medium grey). What are ypu thinking? The house numbers are engraved in a stone and attached to the house so unfortunately I can't replace those. I like your suggestion though!

@decoenthusiaste thank you! What style garage door would be a good a choice? I can decorate interior, but architecture is beyond me. The interior has been renovated to to be more modern, greige tones.

Given your HOA won't let you go with black windows (I applaud them!) I don't think painting the brick would be in the cards either. (Again I would applaud them!) As stated you have a 'stately home' to bring it down with faddy trends would be a shame. So far you have received some great suggestions. Embrace them.

Like all the suggestions you’ve received. Just sharing my home to show all white trim with brick and no shutters. BTW I love painted brick but love no maintenance more.

I should also add, only the front of the house is brick. We've got stucco on the rest. Color suggestions?

IMO, the stucco should match The trim & that’s a lot of white! Also, if garage or stucco sides face south or west sun, that’s a lot of glare with white! Are you limited to one shade of beige / almond? If no, then maybe change that up a bit & also use some of the suggested changes - update garage doors, definitely paint sidelights at front door to match the door - will really make your entry a focal point. Can you change entry & garage lights? If yes, maybe more dramatic & metal colored lights? Definitely trim the hedges under the windows.

I would never buy a house that had such a restrictive HOA! I would rather take my chances that I may not like my neighbors choices, than be restricted in mine.
