Mature lemon tree dead in weeks

Nick

Moved to a new house in Phoenix in April, and there was an existing lemon tree that seemed to be in great shape and produced some really excellent lemons.

About a month or so ago, the tree deteriorated in health seemingly overnight, and no amount of watering has had any effect whatsoever. The leaves have curled, turned yellow, and break off when you touch them.

We’ve definitely had a hot summer even by our standards, but this tree is years old and has survived in this climate just fine.

My question to the group is, does this tree have even a .1% chance of recovering, or is it time to pull it out and plant a new one?
