Curb Appeal Question

I’m looking to freshen up the outside of my 1900 brick house and am not sure where to start.

At a minimum I’d like to paint the door and trim black but I’m not sure what to do about the porch. It was an addition so the brick color doesn’t match.

My husband is thinking to paint the columns of the porch white and the base black to match the trim, but I’m not sold on that idea.

We’ve also thought about painting the whole house white, but the original brick is actually in pretty good condition for the age so we don’t want to cover it up. Thoughts?

We also just got central air so we’ll be removing the swamp cooler soon.
