We have a showerhead at 7 feet and a slide bar with a handheld. Everyone has different opinions, but for me the handheld is essential for cleaning the shower.

Our handheld is adjustable because we can use it as a supplementary shower, both fixtures can spray at the same time. Usually you can only select one at a time.

Shower head reaches to triangle seat in back or for cleaning.

A fixed showerhead with a diverter to an adjustable height handheld is generally best. Depending on the size of your shower, you can also purchase a longer hose for the handheld, so you can reach further into the shower. Great to have for cleaning, IMO.
