What's wrong with my metal accent roofs? (And garage doors...)

They just put the metal accents roofs (don't know their real name) on my house and they don't look that great to me. But I'm not sure why. I just know when I drive around town and see other houses with the same, it looks much cleaner and more finished. Can anyone tell me if I'm just being overly critical because it's my house? Or is it really poorly done? And if so, is it the materials used or the craftsmanship?? I also think the one over the windows needs to be wider and a steeper slant. Help??

While we are at it, also my garage doors don't look great either. I realize now I should have gone with black, instead of trying to match the whites. But I think it goes beyond that- the style is bad maybe? The windows are too close to the top frame? The horizontal lines clash with the vertical board and batten? Should I just paint them black and hope they look okay then? Why do they look so out of place?

If the awning over the window lined up with the porch roof it would look better, but it is a small issue. I think you are right about the garage doors. You could get the top panel replaced with a solid one and paint them to match the siding.

Otherwise, I would let it go. Once the grass and the landscaping is in, it will fade away. You could plant a bush link a Crepe Myrtle out in the yard a bit between the porch and the window with an awning to obscure the height difference.

The first thing I notice is the rooflines don’t align. The porch roofline is slightly lower than the one over your windows, and the two roofs at the inside corner by your garage doors also do not align. I’m not sure why they weren’t designed to align. Also, I think the porch roof and the one over your windows should be a steeper slope for more visual depth. I don’t think your garage doors are terrible. I wouldn’t paint them black. I think it would be too stark. Maybe paint to match the white.

Garage door- move the window panel down one, this will make it look a lot better.

IMO black windows and no accents would have been better and that piece over those little window just looks silly and what purpose does that serve. The garage doors , those windows should have been lower

It doesn't appear to be a craftsmanship issue, but more of a design issue....your house may appear less clean/finished to you because your rooflines don't align, but the fix on that is expensive.

At the very least, paint the garage doors the color of the siding. If you can, replace the panels with the glass for solid. Once you get grass and landscape in, you won't notice the roof as much...

They accent roof over the window looks more like a roll away awning. Odd certainly. The suggestions of others and landscaping will help distract.
