Thanks Beverly! I like how you added the chandelier to a pic of the space. Really helps with visualizing. Do you prefer one chandelier as opposed to two? The area by the table is dark but maybe sconces or lamps would work.

IMO the issue with selecting a satin chrome finish for this foyer is that the chandelier will simply blend into the wall when not lit and not make much of a statement.

I’d use a black chandelier and sconces (since you already have the electrical in place) to work with your staircase. The chandelier below feels symmetrical and modern and comes in various sizes.

Rather than adding sconces that “match” or “go” with your new chandelier, I suggest a nice lamp on the console table if more lighting is needed near the door. I also prefer the multi level chandeliers that designers are showing you here. Your foyer can take that level of drama. The modern styled black metal ones look fabulous with your metal spindles and your door hardware. Good luck with your project!

for the hanging fixture. I also see the sconces as equally important. I would not match the chandelier exactly & would treat them separately. I also notice that on the second floor landing that you would need a fixture to finish off the transformation. The side table when finished would offer you another warm & decorative option.

Wow! Thank you everyone for your time and ideas. There is a lot to process and look through...I’m sure I’ll be Online all evening 😆. But you are right that the room can handle some drama, which we are excited to add to this space that lacks light and a focal point.

Arlene, thanks for sharing the link to Hubbardton Forge. Very unique! I struggle to find larger fixtures (120’ total length, 36”+ wide and tall fixtures), and they have numerous. They also have options without traditional candelabra shapes. I probably should have mentioned my husband doesn’t care for that style and he’s quite involved with the design throughout our home. A more modern candelabra might work for him. See examples...

Hub Forge is nice but expensive, type in modern transitional lighting might give you some options.

We are thinking this chandelier...the 41”x43” size fits the space well and it comes with long wire and chain. We like the black and brushed nickel together. What do you think?

I just realized I never uploaded the pics with the new light. We love the geometric design and the mix of black and chrome, which carries through other spaces in our home. The bigger fixture looks more balanced. The design it casts adds interest. We replaced the wall sconces too. I still wish it were brighter (foyer faces North and we live in the cloudy PNW). Maybe painting the ceiling white would help? Not sure recesses ceiling lighting can reach the 1st floor.
