non-combustible mantle over wood-burning fireplace

We just replaced our 40 year old wood-burning fireplace insert with a new Stuv insert. It looks great but we've realized that the clearance for the mantle is about 25" putting the rustic wood mantle I picked out too close to the ceiling. I've been looking at the Pearl non-combustible mantle so it can be in a better spot but it looks a bit plastic-y. Does anyone have any experience with non-combustible mantles? thanks for any advice.
