I like the dolomite. It's a good compromise between the sparseness of the quartz and the extreme pattern in the Macaubus.

It's all about what you need in performance. For me, first, I need real stone, so quartz is eliminated. Second I had budget constraints, so quartzite was eliminated and I went with a marble, because I don't mind patina. So if you don't mind or embrace patina, the dolomite works, if you have the budget he quartzite is wonderful. No bad options between those two for me.

I love the movement in the Fantasy Macaubus and it would be a great contrast to your cabinets. It is dramatic but if that isn't your thing then I would go with the dolomite though it is a much softer material. Personally I hate quartz, it looks so fake. JMO

I like the Fantasy Macaubus and personally favor natural stone over quartz. Part of the beauty of natural stone is that each slab is unique and usually has a complex range of colors within so blending with cabinetry is easier than a flat two dimensional man-made product.

I too like the dolomite. Quartz looks good on TV but fake in person.

We went with a quartz but different from what was previously selected above. It came out beautifully and I agree it doesn’t look as lovely as the quartzite or dolomite. However, the reality for our family is that we needed a surface that would hold up better with spills that are not immediately cleaned up. Quartz won.

@kcorn The quartz, that will look just as nice in 10 years as the day it was installed, will be lovlier than a stained and otherwise blemished quartzite or dolomite. You wisely acknowledged that different life stages require different priorities, and my bet is that your family and guests fully enjoy gathering in your new kitchen, and, instead of keeping an eagle eye out for spills, you enjoy it more than you would a more ”purist” choice.
