planting a present for my neighbors

My husband and I bought 60 acres that surround my in-laws place on three sides. We recently built a 4.5 acre pond and the backside of the dam wall is highly visible from their kitchen window. I want to plant something there that will give them a crazy beautiful view. This is something of a thank you as they’ve been hosting us at their place for six months and will continue to host us until we get our house built.

The area in question is a large west facing steep slope in full afternoon sun. We are in central Indiana, zone 6a.

My current plan is to seed the dam wall with a wildflower meadow. I’d also like to have something tall to make sure we’ve got privacy between their house and our future house site. Being a dam wall I need things that won’t root too deeply.

Would love any suggestions as to what to plant or how to landscape this area in a gorgeous, privacy enhancing, low maintenance way (we’re full time farmers and will likely not have time to weed, mow, or prune this regularly.)
