I suggest buying four good seat cushions (two for table chairs, two for view chairs) and use what you have this winter. In my area, there's little patio furniture in stock in fall. Spring brings lots of patio furniture to local stores where you can try it out.

Apple Pie- that is the plan to wait until the Spring. Husband and I were just discussing what we wanted to do so thought I would get a different perspective from you experts.
I don’t care for the large white railings bc they block so much of the view but we can’t change those.
We do have seat cushions for all the chairs and two of them are swivel.

Bumping up

It's always been my preference NOT to use iron furniture on a wooden deck. To me, that style and weight belongs on a stone patio. I'd use all weather wicker with cushions or some nice teak.

Your husband’s suggestion of a high-top table and chairs actually should work well for a few reasons. Aging in place: My elderly mother has a bar-height table and chairs, and she appreciates that it’s easier for her to “lean” into and out of the chairs instead of having to grasp the table to lower herself in and pull herself up to get out. Maximizing the view: I once had the same issue with a house with a beautiful view — the deck railing obscured part of the view depending on how low the deck chairs were. Because the bar-height dining table raised us higher than a standard-height table, we could more easily look over the top railing and enjoy the view.

When it comes time to choose your new pieces, you might want to look at styles that better coordinate with the style of your house. Although your pics don’t show the entire house, the wrought-iron set (while attractive) seems a tad ornate for the style and area. I’ve come to prefer round dining tables with pedestal bases for flexibility in squeezing in more guests and for lending themselves to one group conversation rather than separate conversations at each end. As for dining chairs, swivel is great so you can easily take in more of the view — and you can swivel to get out rather than have to push back a heavy chair.

If you have enough space in the covered area of the deck, you might be able to fit in 9 pieces: For dining, a 48” bar-height round table with 4 swivel chairs; for relaxing, 2 “deep seating” chairs with a side table in between, plus a sturdy coffee table for putting up your feet. If you have enough space in the uncovered area of the deck and you like to occasionally bask in the sun, 2 lounge chairs or 2 Adirondack chairs with matching ottomans, plus a side table in between, would work well. We have several pieces of Polywood outdoor furniture on an uncovered patio at our Montana summer home, and the stuff is absolutely wonderful. No maintenance and doesn’t blow away in our sometimes strong winds. We don’t even store it in the garage when we head down to Texas for the winter.

Thanks for both your perspectives. The previous owners left the furniture and we are just now getting around to figuring out how we want to use the space. It’s a long deck but not very wide so I don’t think a lot of furniture will fit. I don’t want to block the view of the lake from the inside living area and the smaller portion of the deck is off the master bedroom.
We have a beautiful stone patio below the deck (at the top of the wall in picture) where we put our table and chairs from our previous home which is the same style as the one on the deck.

What a great home and beautiful views. I've attached a photo of my deck (it's 14 ft wide) that has a teak table and sling type chairs. My table is 48 x 120 extended. I have tons of room for the chairs to come in and out. There are many tables that are 36 -39 inches wide. I think they'd be absolutely fine for your 11ft wide space as long as the chairs are not too bulky. I dislike pub height tables/chairs. I feel that "trend" has passed and I find them difficult to get up and down from. IMO, I'd get a 36-39 inch wide extension table (if you need to seat large groups) with some comfortable but not too bulky chairs. For the narrower space off your bedroom, I may put a couple of chaises there, or 2 comfortable chairs and an ottoman with a table in between for a place to drink my morning coffee, read or just relax and take in the lake view.

Please talk your husband out of the high top table. You just can’t get comfy or sit for very long when your feet need to stay on the stool/chair cross bar because your feet can't reach the floor.

PRN that’s what I told him. When we go out I don’t like sitting at the high top even though I’m 5’6” - he’s 6’3” lol so he doesn’t mind.
I think I’ll look for a table that can be pulled out for dinner if we get company. I’d like a cushy rocker that swivels.
