They're beautiful. And now the all important question, have you had any problem with etching or staining?

ZERO problems. No staining (they’ve been sealed), and no etching. I have to stress though that I’m a very clean cook and always use a cutting board and wipe up spills as I go (although there have been little coffee spills that have sat overnight and when I find them in the morning they just wipe right up with no staining or etching). I haven’t spilled vinegar or turmeric all over the counters so can’t say what would happen, but my experience has been great. I would install them again in a heartbeat....I have no regrets.

You've also got me rethinking my island because I LOVE your wood top. We were planning on soft white cabinets with a natural wood island to break the white up. Same countertops on both the perimeter and island. But I'm concerned about the natural wood island blending into the red oak floors. I'm afraid it won't pop.

I love the contrast and warmth of your wood top against the white. Plus I agree re: preferring to eat off a wooden surface. Your kitchen may have just convinced me to go with a white island and wood top! My husband's going to love me. Not! :-)

I actually was reticent to go with a white kitchen because all that white can look very cold...and really, I much prefer warm colors. I did my best to pick a warm white for the cabs and the marble counter is definitely warm (completely different that Carrera which has lots of grays and is a much cooler white.....the Bianco Avion is pleasantly warm and creamy-ish without looking at all yellow) The walnut top (as well as the floor) really warms things up. And, call me old fashioned, but I refuse to put in LED’s. IMO, they still have not come up with what i would consider warm lighting. I have incandescents in my entire home. Today, with all the white cabinets, gray walls, and LED lighting, so much of it looks cold like a warehouse.

I really appreciate the feed back on the Bianco Avion because like you my fear is to end up with a cold sterile looking kitchen. I'll be going with a warm white color for the cabinets too.

We're both renovating and building! We just gutted our 1925) craftsman house and added 850 sq ft. Thank you again for all the great info.
