I would have the two chairs placed on the entry side to make it more inviting and presentable. What is on the opposite side of this room? Dining Area or another sitting area.

Not sure of the size you need or what style you’re thinking of, but I’d like to suggest going online to use rugs-direct.com. You input color, size, style, material, etc., and use a photo of your room to “place “ a rug. It’s a huge help for imaging what the rug would look like in your space, and it’s really not that tricky. Here’s an example.

Claire, please see attached picture & please excuse the grandchildren’s toys. To the left is the dining room & kitchen. Currently we are using a folding table until we find a real table-lol. We are planning on doing built in cabinets on the TV wall & a gas linear fireplace.

Do you have room to place the other sofa just to give you more room to move round it looks cramped. You can also place the two accent chairs on the opposite side and have the sofa float at the window. What is the size of your room? 10x12?

Room with furniture looks dull. I would bring some color , some natural elements in room avoiding too much gray.

Since you live in a coastal town. You need a coastal look to your home. Look at wayfair.com. Lots of beautiful rugs with blues in them to match your chairs. Check out macy oriental white/royal blue area rug from Wayfair. You might like it. For a round end table from Wayfair, check out tannable end table by Fleur De Lis Living. I bought one in black and love it for 144.99. The table is very good quality for that price. Have fun decorating!

Before you decide the rug I'd like to recommend you fix the furnishings layout. IMO the new layout will be more visually open.

The TV mounted on the wall is mounted too high for comfortable viewing.

I believe your chairs are swivels, so they will need to sit entirely on the rug to balance and turn. The rug should also be wider than your widest sofa. I hope the second sofa is not a love seat. I would prefer you get two more of your chairs and try this arrangement rather than deal with a loveseat; the biggest design failure we deal with here on Houzz. Could you use it in your master?

Hi Beverly, thank you for taking the time to do a layout. It does look much better. We are going to work on moving furniture around this weekend, I'll get a picture posted once we are finished. Definitely will be lowering the TV once the built in cabinets are finished on the back wall.

Perfect color for the beach, The vase is teal, similar to the lamps .Thank you for taking the time to show me examples. Hi decoenthusiate, I didn't even think about the swivel chairs needing to be completely on the rug. Thank you for pointing that out. And yes, it's a loveseat and I can't put it anywhere else because our house is small. Putting it in the bedroom is a great idea however our bedroom will need to accommodate a desk area.

I’m posting 2 more pictures because I’m wondering if having the 2 chairs on the kitchen/dining room area would be too many chairs? The sliding door is opposite the big front window where the chairs are sitting. Yes, that is an outdoor couch in our dining room as well as a folding table & chairs. Ugh-we are having a garage built & it is taking a long time because piles had to be put in the ground so I didn’t want to leave the couch outside.
Please excuse the mess as we just recently moved in.

I know you don’t want the sofa at the window but it’s the only way it can be done. A sectional would have been much better for the space and one chair.

As for your lamp, depends on rug you get. You might use it in living room. If not...then in bedroom. Actually to achieve beach theme you can mix blues and teal.
