If the walls are in good condition, don’t worry about painting. A house, clean and well staged will sell quickly.

You might consider removing the drapes instead.

My first thought was remove the drapes, also. You do have a lot of them wow. Ask your realtor about the drapes. Also I wouldn't paint to match the drapes. Next owner will probably remove them anyway. Go neutral. BM White Dove seems to be a popular choice.

I would remove some of the furniture ( the chair and ottoman). to make the room more spacious. Your walls look to be neutral now so I would focus on decluttering and opening up the space.

I don't think you need to replace the drapes with anything.

or with light gray/blue

The drapes appear to be shirred on heavy rods, and because they are so long, they probably cannot be closed without a lot of effort. They can stay, but are there separate shades for privacy on the lower level windows? I would remove the ottoman to make the room feel more open. Then you can move the coffee table a bit more away from the sofa for more space there.

The paint colors are all neutral.

I would remove all small personal objects/decor and re-assess. Unless your walls are damaged another neutral paint colour wouldn’t really change the look of the space unless you plan to stage it in my opinion. The colour you have right now is neutral enough.

I would leave the drapes; new owners might see them as a bonus considering the expense of replacing them. We get lots of questions on what to do for those big rooms with two story windows and no window coverings. The paint and drapes are neutral enough for selling (new owners will have their own taste about that) but you still need to neutralize your fingerprint on the space. You want prospects to be able to envision their things here, not yours. Remove all the faux plants/greenery/flowers, and when you have showings, add a live flower arrangement on that drop leaf table by the sofa. Increase the feeling of spaciousness by removing the dining room rug so you have a nice flow of flooring from the living to dining areas. Gather up all the small decor items you can hold in both hands. I especially would remove those candle sticks and supports either side of the mirror. Hopefully you have some touch up paint. At the least, remove the candlesticks. I agree that the big chair and ottoman are covering up a lot of what sells a space (square footage.)

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will remove small items and suggested furniture. I am debating taking the drapes
down or not. The place does needs to be painted, so that is our first step in getting ready to sell.

I would suggest no gray or dark colours

Ivory or off white. Any realtor will nix a color. Neutral, and less furniture to make the rooms look larger.

I know the photos are not reflective of what the room might look like in person, but I fail lot see the benefit of painting now. It appears neutral now and any change to this might be inferior. Also you have many items hanging on the walls so by the time you take them down, patch, repaint and rehang them, the new owner is still left with the dilemma of having holes in the wall which need to be repainted.

Unless walls in bad condition I would not paint ( looking at your lovely home I doubt it - as your home looks well cared for). My neighbor painted walls very lite greige and painted all the cabinets white before selling . New neighbors painted grey and walls different shade of white! Everyone has different preferences even with respect to neutrals. Agree depersonalize and remove ottoman.
