I have a house almost the same vintage as yours. My first thought was also a new garage door. If you do a new door, stay away from the raised panel look, add a few windows and a few of those iron looking contrasting handle straps.

A lantern light fixture on the larger left side would interest.

I think a lantern on the left or a trellis with new doors will be lovely.

Maybe reside with a deep red close to the brick of the home?

If it were my garage, I'd put a dormer on the roof to match the one on the front of the house. At the least, I'd put a cupola on the garage to give it more presence. Possibly even a weathervane. Definitely a new door and siding and I'd go with white to tie in with your lovely house more.

I would replace with two doors and a space between. I like the style door mindshift suggested.

I think the lap siding should be wider.

I think a trellis would be very attractive.

Would you guys still choose white knowing its going to be vinyl siding?

I know you said the garage is gray to tie in with the house foundation, but I don’t think that’s working. I’d do a white garage (like your house trim) with a fancy door like mindshift shows. A cupola and a weathervane sounds good.

Your home has enormous presence. In contrast, your garage is plain and appears cheap. Dress it up with some handsome features.
