Refinished issue - need help.

Meeting with the owner tomorrow. His guys are telling him this is the floor. The marks were not there prior to refinishing.

Looks like foot and kneepad marks to us. Rest of the rooms look great.

Can this be fixed to blend with the rest of the connecting rooms?

I can't see what you are talking about. It looks good to me.

I also can't imagine they would walk over a wet stained floor.

Are you planning to lay a rug?

Either the stain did not dry and you have adhesion failure. Or they buffed through the finish and stain. Then touched it up, leaving you a blotch in the floor. You will need to investigate both.

The stain was put down and left to dry overnight. Drying time at least 16 hours

We had the room temp at 68. It was not humid here. I agree, it’s off that it would only be in one room. No other rooms are affected it is not white flaky, that may just be the picture. It really looks like dark over saturated areas. It literally looks like rows of

footprints and knees -like when you mow the lawn.

if they redo the room will it blend with the room or will you be able to

    tell they re did it?

If, they use the same exact sanding process. It will blend in.

They resanded and applied stain. It’s crazy, but even without a finish I can see some spots. It was Not visible on our other floor?!?

Do you have photos of the stain WITHOUT finish? The newest attempt?

Damp wood takes up stain much differently than dry wood (that's why people water pop...they get a more dramatic finish). We've seen sweat drops and hand prints (sweaty hand prints, sweaty knee prints, sweaty foot prints, anything sweaty) cause stain 'uptake' issues. The sweat allows stain soak in a bit more...the rest of the wood being drier means it looks different.

The TEMPERATURE of the ROOM (and humidity) is VERY important. And the stain (make/colour) is ALSO important. Some makes and some colours take upto 72 hours to properly dry (longer in cold homes).

Photos of the newest attempt please.

Sounds like they are following the exact same process they did the first time, including screwing it up again - smh.

Yah! Good for you! So glad we cold help. Did they ever 'figure out' what caused the splotches in the first place.

I think the owner was buying into our point that they looked like knee and foot prints :) It was not the floor
