Recommend your kitchen sinks

Can you recommend a kitchen sink that is white, undermount, durable, and has good draining for easy cleaning? My designer wants me to get a $haw sink but I have read many cracking/ chipping reviews.

I would go with a high-quality stainless steel sink. All white cast-iron or porcelain sinks can chip, and they are harder to keep clean than stainless steel. Franke makes very good sinks.

Elkay Quartz Luxe in Ricotta (bright white). Unlike cast iron, the color goes all the way through. You'd have to work to chip it, but if you did, you wouldn't have a black spot. Buy the optional stainless grate for the bottom if it makes you feel better.

    You're smart to avoid fireclay.

I currently have a stainless sink in my old kitchen. For the new remodel, my designer is encouraging a white sink for the aesthetic. Are white sinks more of a pain to keep clean?

I have a Kohler Riverby in white. No more difficult to clean than any other sink, and no issues with chipping or scratching. However I do have a stainless steel sink grid/grate (which came with the sink) that no doubt helps.

I have a Whitehaus fireclay apron front. Stainless grid on the bottom. No problems with cracking, chipping, etc. I don't think white sinks are harder to keep clean other than you can't scrub them with an old Brillo pad like you can stainless - but something like Bon Ami does the trick with little effort.

I bought a 30” firclay Barclay sink from Wayfair almost 2 years ago and so far so good. We have an off center drain and I’ve never had any problems with drainage. It was exactly what we wanted and the price was so much more affordable than Shaw. It cleans up easily.

I have a white sink and I hate it so hard. It’s always stained with something and I’m forever bleaching and scrubbing with bar keepers friend. For me, it’s the worst.

Purlins, I love your backsplash, and those cabinets. Can you tell me about your cabinets? (Maker, Wood, finish, etc?)

Thanks Muriel - I posted my reveal with details here: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/5823091/kitchen-reveal-ikea-scherr-s-marmoleum . I did decide to add two more equally distanced shelves on either side of window. So this picture is a little old.

Muriel Thompson--What material is your sink made from? Materials make a big difference.

FWIW, I have a white cast iron sink, and it doesn't stain at all. I have never had to bleach it.

IMO a good quality stainless sink deep single bowl will alwys stand the test of time, easy to clean looks great and literally lasts forever. I would not do the work station type sinks I think all the parts are a PITA and too small for real work. I use my kitchen a lot as I run catering from it and my sinks are stainless and at the end of the day when clean up is done they still look awesome 13 yrs down the road. They had big pots dropped in them not even a dent.

I agree that stainless is more durable and easier to keep clean...never chips...stains...easy clean up...we do seasonal winter rentals so have seen lots of different types...the white sinks always have more issues...some even show marks from sliding pots against the surfaces...others show wear in vulnerable areas or around fixtures..
