Do you need a new roof? If you do, I’d certainly choose a lighter brighter color. Since it’s a mansard, obviously there’s a lot of it and the current color is so dark.

I think your house looks nice but could use some color, maybe in the form of a repainted door or more colorful landscaping.

If you changed this roof, you would be fundamentally changing the bones of the home. I might gently ask, why did you choose this home if you aren't happy with one of the most basic design elements of the exterior?

Instead, I would lean into the look the house has. I am guessing 1970s build? Mansard roofs give great attic or second story space. I love the windows. I love the stone. If you want to change out the roof colors, go with an architectural shingle in a deep brown. But I don't know if that is cost-effective.

I would concentrate on the landscaping. Make a more sweeping entrance with a curved flagstone walkway. I can see a Japanese sort of planting look speaking this house's language. Maybe a Prairie style or Asian inspired hanging light fixture on the porch. More dramatic doors with maybe a pop of a rusty red and warm-toned brass handles or deep black iron ones. This house has a strong character-- lean into it!

Thats not brick, its stone, and I would never paint it. Concentrate on a pretty front door and some really nice landscaping. Bright color pots, and pretty flowers would look nice. I notice you do have yellow mums. The yellow sort of just blends into your stone, maybe pick brighter colored ones next year. Its a very nice house, just improve and brighten the entry way, and landscaping, and it will look great.

I agree, it would be a major mistake to paint the stone. Its a well maintained restrained example of a Neoeclectic Mansard style house. Go with it instead of against it. Add some landscaping including trees and enjoy it. I can't see the doors but I would hesitate to make them inconsistent with the style of the house.

What a beautiful house! Leave the stone and roof, they're great! The window trim ( on the left) of the garage ( I guess it's the garage) doesn't seem to match the other trims. That's the only thing that "bothers" me. Just concentrate on landscaping

Of the questions, we bought this house because the location and the neighborhood is amazing, and as someone mentioned above, the interior of the home is very spacious. The roof and the door are both about 3 years old so it’s too soon for a new one. I personally like the door because the entryway is very dark with not that much natural light, but the windows in the doors help brighten it up. If I change the color of the front door, which color would best suit the house? Currently they are a dark red wood color. Maybe a rosewood.

I don't see a reason to change it. I like it!

I agree with others, it’s a beautiful house. I love the front doors. I would keep the color of the doors, but I would take the diamond pattern windows out. You can have the glass changed pretty easily. Maybe a really beautiful seeded glass or even clear, if you could live with that. I also agree with landscaping. A couple of nice evergreen trees (junipers or such) on that left side (with the high windows) flanking them. You could also add some shutters, painted the front door color. They are pretty inexpensive and can really change a house front. 😊
