My hood is Zephyr and its LED is a beautiful soft light, not as white as my 4000k lights everywhere else. It has 2 setting for bright and a low light. The LED strips run across the whole front, it is like an extra UCL. I would guess the light is somewhere in the 3500k range, not cold one bit.

My Modernaire has a variable switch for the exhaust and a dimming switch for the light. It came with halogen bulbs but I use 3000k LED dimmable bulbs. You specifiy whatever fan you want...in my case 600 cfm.

If you are installing a hood with cabinetry surround rather than a standalone metal hood, it should not be 30” wide. It should be 36” wide to allow entire coverage of the 30” cooktop. Typically the surround and the insert curtail the coverage of the entire 30” width of the cooktop. And also the cabinet surrounds are not deep enough front-to-back (typically only 19-20” deep) for proper coverage of a cooktop that is 24” deep front to back. You spend a lot of money only to have the front burners not even covered. Adding width would help the exhaust coverage if you don’t want to specify a 24” deep hood. And finally, a 30” wide cabinet surround looks out of proportion. It needs to be wider to balance aesthetically the bulk of the surround cabinetry.

Since you are having custom cabinets built, you have the flexibility to make the hood 6” wider.
