We have 7” live sawn, white oak floors which are a stable cut of wood compared to plain sawn. But even with that it’s still a commitment. We are in the midwest. Very humid summers. We use a hygrometer to watch the humidity levels in our house. We rarely open our windows. If it’s humid outside we turn off our ERV. We could have done engineered wood but wanted solid wood. We could have gone a little narrower but the wider cut shows the beauty of this wood.

even with the restrictions I don’t regret my floor choice. They are beautiful.

The neighbors put down the engineered version. Looks great. Though it is the in thing now so make sure you don't get mass market crap. But really, the floors are what I noticed first when I saw the remodel for the first time.
