Definitely needs a pretty rug. I’d do a light blue maybe a chandelier with bronzey gold accents. Maybe solid white floor to ceiling curtains. Also lots of flowers. Not sure about the ladder it might just block the window.... is there a solid portion of a wall there ?
Are the sides of the doors available? Are they windows? If they’re wall I’d do something there. Maybe a grass wall. Not the ladder. I’ll show you what I mean in a picture

OK. Three sides of the room are glass. The patio door is glass. Is there room in the corner for a wall planter?

I think an area rug in this case will not work in your space, It would cover the registries and may hamper the door opening. If you do get one, you may need to find a very flat remnant and have it bound to fit the exact size you need.

I would not get window treatments either. That view!!!! paint the walls another color, something that brings out those windows, keep trim white. It will like look like you have art on the walls.

If you are not going to add lighting over the table, you need a centerpiece with height.

Hahaaa thank god for the centered lights in the kitchen. The spaces look tight I would just leave it. Maybe put some plants in the kitchen. Or something neat on the table. And if your interested in the future I would LOVEEE a wallpaper in that room

For wallpaper I’d just do the little bit of wall you have. Not the ceiling. Could really go a LONG way!

Did rotating chairs help with door issue? That’s a great idea. if you got a light I’d say a big NO on “rustic”:style - way off what you have. I’d also be concerned hanging light would block that view from kitchen. Ditto on shades unless needed for the hot south & west exposure of windows. If that’s not a problem, nothing on windows gets my vote. I also like the idea njmomma suggested - paint walls only.. A strong color will make windows look like framed art. If you want a rug, how about an indoor / outdoor type since they are very flat & many colors designs out there!

Rotating the chairs helped big time. Now, I can open the patio door and have a centered table. Even my husband approves, and he is a tough customer. I am open to any ideas about a rug, especially color and shape as well as paint colors. The room faces West and North so light is gentle. No need for shades.
