Im not sure what EB is.. so no. New to houz and houses and anything domestic really. Kinda fun though. Except the renovations are taking foreverrr.

Then you have a twin out there somewhere (SA I think!) I love your lounge with the beams - looks great now that it's painted. Good luck with the reno.

Betty, the new flooring already makes a huge difference. I agree that you should leave the beams natural. If you're still deciding on painting colors, try painting samples on poster board and letting it sit in the rooms for a while to see how your lighting affects it.

On the bathroom, and longer, horizontal tile will seem to stretch out your walls and make the bathroom appear wider. Subway tile, or any rectangular, horizontal tile will help it feel more roomy. White is also a great way to make a small room feel spacious. I would try a clear, glass door for the shower, which will visually open the space and make it appear larger as well.

Love all your ideas & the progress updates. We live in Sydney & installed a glossy white ikea kitchen about 7 years ago & Love it! Just be careful of the handles if u are having them. The ones we originally chose were faux metal and peeled their coating off very quickly. I loved the fact that u could visit Ikea and make a mini mock up kitchen to scale with their little wooden blocks. I was actually able to see a 3d version before going ahead with purchase.

My suggestion would be to use the small tiles on the floor and use square or subway tiles on the walls. I wanted to add, the wood floors look wonderful!

Small tiles on floor have more grout requiring more cleaning.

@ betty It's fairly simple yet very eye catching! @ bev, If the grout is sealed, cleaning shouldn't be a big production. :-)

Have you tried Subiaco Restoration?

Lighting is always tricky in ranch homes. Often ceilings do not allow depth for typical down lights. There are solutions to work around it but it can be limiting.

Im not sure. I went to them when they were in Subiaco about 7 years ago. They are now in Osborne Park. They certainly used to have federation style tiles. Phone them

What about Edwardian Tile Co and The Federation Tile Factory? $80 a metre is a lot!

The new floors look fab and I love the look of the black and white floor tile. I wish I could be of some help in sourcing that tile for cheaper than $80/m. Have you seen this photo?

I have been to Subiaco Restoration recently and I did notice federation and colonial style accent and trim tile, but not floor tile. However, they are very helpful and it might be worth a phone call, as they may be able to direct you to a supplier.

Edwardian tile is where I got the $80 price. Will check out subiaco and federation and let you know. And wow!! Love that photo Cathie!!

Betty, i have just remembered The Tile Library. Graham stocks discontinued tiles. He has TONS of fed tiles and is very reasonable. His name is Graham. Definately try there. In osborne park.

I was going to suggest the tile library but thought they might be a bit expensive as well. We got some tiles from there but they were quite a bit more than the original price we had paid. The place really is a gold mine for discontinued tiles though.

Looking good! Are you using glass screens or a curtain? Screens would look great (as much as they are a pain to keep clean).

From memory I do believe Ikea had some nice ones in white with black.

Keep checking Gumtree also. I have a semi frameless shower screen I'm selling but it's for a standard shower size, sadly.

FYI squeegee your glass shower with each shower and it will stay nice...and it is kinda fun.

Betty, your project is looking wonderful. Much improved and very classy. You've made an investment that will be worth it in the long run, so don't be worried about temporary accents in between big projects. You're off to a fantastic start.

Will you be installing a hood (vent) over the stove? You may (or may not) also want to consider adding shelves, magnetic holders to keep items you may need handy... I think I have seen some of these in the Ikea catalogue
