Could you change one of the windows in the dining room to patio doors?

It’s in an awkward location for a bedroom right off the dining and far from the bathroom. What is the reason for needing another bedroom?

Iyfia, what about we add a wall in front of the bedroom, would that be much better? If we directly add a room right off the dining, would the bank think our design is crap and devalue us?

Sharon, we wonder if this is necessary to add a patio door as the garage has side door? will it be a big problem for a house that have no access point to backyard from the dining room?

How much will it cost to change the window to patio door?

It’s more usual to have direct access to a back yard, it it’s your home so it’s up to you as long as you’re not violating any emergency agrees regulations in your area - you’d have to contact local contractors and suppliers where you live to find out costs.

You could wall off the front portion of the living room. The entry will then be a hall. You might have to angle a corner to go from the entry to the living space beyond. Then you could enclose the patio for living space with a door to the back yard.

What country is it in?

It looks like the garage has a patio door? And it has the laundry, so I assume you are in a warm climate. Can you convert part of the garage to a bedroom? Does your zoning permit that?

Spatially this concept would make more sense (access to bathroom and privacy). But we were not provided the site constraints.

How much space is over the garage? There is often unused bonus space over the garage that could be turned into a bedroom, pending local regs etc
