I would either do a smaller rug with possibly a different shape in the room over with a long runner in from the door, or as Lala said, just a door mat in the whole inset area.

For an entry door, I would use a slightly darker-color oriental-style rug which has one or two of the same colors as the adjacent rugs. A darker rug will hide leaf debris or dirt tracked in from outside (until someone can run the vacuum). There is no 4.5’x4.5’ ready-made rug that I have seen, but you may be able to find a 3’x5’ or 3’x8’ rug. Your rug does not have to relate to the ‘entry table’ .... its job is to protect the floor. I have orientals in the entry, living room and dining room....all different but with one or three similar colors. Somehow they work together.

Rugs that are approximately 4 b 6 feet can vary a bit in size if they are handmade. Look for a slightly smaller one that complements the big rug but darker. A handmade 4 by 6 rug can be easily rolled up to take to the rug cleaners once a year or however often it needs cleaning. A large mat on the outside will help keep the entry rug cleaner.

Sorry it has taken forever! I found an entry rug. Is it strange its so close to the living room rug? Does it complement the living room rug? They both have brown tones in common.

That new mat is way too big. Get something that fits in the little entry nook. And imo it should be rectangular w the long side parallel to the door. I think the color is fine
