staining cedar deck

We installed a new cedar deck this summer. Due to some unforeseen circumstances we haven’t been able to stain it. We are ready now. Everything has been removed from the deck. We power washed 4 days ago and applied cleaner 24 hours ago. Now I am seeking help about how to apply the stain. We purchased stain from Sherwin Williams. Can the stain be applied with a 3/8 nap roller with me following closely behind with a brush along the edges? Advice greatly appreciated.
