I'm growing fennel as a fall crop for the first time. Everything was going well with our extended Indian summer, but now I've noticed that the bulbs are starting to turn tan/light brown. Does anyone know what is causing this?
It's been mild floral, highs mostly in the 50's and 70's, there's been some frost but mostly above freezing. I also grow fennel but mostly decoratively, that, and it's deer resistant. My question is when is fennel normally harvested for the bulb? In the Fall, now or can it be harvested in the Spring?
