What about using the toilet area (with the pocket doors) for your toilet, and taking over the toilet that's by your master closet.

You have a closet in the hallway leading to the bedroom near the breakfast room. Could you make that closet bigger? You might have to make the vanity smaller in the bathroom behind the closet. Or have your laundry machines in the guest room near the foyer, in the closet, with a small closet on the end for guests clothes. Not sure I would want to carry the laundry that far (to the master bedroom stool area).

There are narrow pocket doors at each end of the bathroom unfortunately. It is a really weird layout. The only reason I thought that room was better is because there is an unfrosted, floor length window that over looks the front yard right in front of the toilet.

The hall closet door is only 18” wide and the kid’s bath is really cramped as is.

We have 3 kids so the front room belongs to my 3 year old daughter.

You certainly don't want the laundry in your suite. Eventually the kids will be doing their own laundry.

What about in the sun room?

(Btw, how do you get from the living room to the kitchen? It looks like the counter blocks it off?)

It is rather surprising the laundry doesn't back up against the kitchen bathroom. I would close in the space the laundry is in, swap it with that bedroom "closet" area, open that bathroom up off the kitchen to become a mudroom/laundry/bathroom.

Am I reading the floor plan right that the master bathroom is actually a jack and Jill with the front bedroom and that the front bedroom enters the bathroom through a toilet room?

Lmckuin, I wonder if the OP is in Texas? I knew a house with a similar master/bedroom JnJ set up in Texas except it was like two powder rooms, each with a door to a tub room. Also garage laundries.

How do you travel between the dining room and kitchen? Via the foyer?

I made a mistake when trying To draw the floor plan. There is a door to both the living room and dining room from the kitchen. This is closer:

Switching the laundry with the adjacent closet might work. That room is shared by my 8&13 year old boys. Moving the closet door might make make placing furniture awkward? The laundry is right behind the bed in the picture.

It would be great to have a mud room area. Currently we have no place for shoes backpacks etc. You come straight into the kitchen from the garage. I would not want to lose the 1/2 bath.

This is the entry from the garage and the 1/2 bath (taken from the dining room): the half bath and the boy’s closet both have pocket doors, but the one in their room is wide enough to fit a washer.

The sunroom is a playroom and pretty much entirely windows. I don’t think it would work.

Here are two ideas:

Put a stackable washer and dryer in the bigger pantry next to the fridge. You have water very accessible with the powder room right next door. Yes that means you give up your nice big pantry, but perhaps you can enlarge the one against the dining room to compensate.

Enclose the current laundry space in the garage and re-design the closet, laundry, and powder room area by that bedroom next to the garage. Move the bedroom's closet against the exterior wall and change the new space into a powder room + laundry room. In my old house the laundry room was a pass through into the powder room. You could do something similar.

The first option is probably the easiest and least expensive. Obviously there is more cost and construction associated with the second option, but you don't have to give up much, if any space, if you can capture the current laundry space and re-arrange things to provide access.

The smaller pantry is maybe 2” deep so it is basically useless. It backs up to the dining room. We are planning to remodel the kitchen after the holidays so maybe we could come up with another pantry option? The bigger one isn’t really great for storing food anyway. It’s narrow and deep so everything gets lost in the back.

I think redesigning the laundry/closet/1/2 bath is also a good option
