I used the wrong caulk on quarter rounds

I didn't realize there were several different types of caulk to choose from. When I went to the store, I saw GE Paintable Silicone All Projects Window and Door Sealant. The container said for interior/exterior use and it mentioned trim, and I thought it was talking about baseboards. I bought some and put it on ALL the quarter rounds through our entire downstairs. I only realized something was off when I tried to wipe it off my hands and it was very difficult to get off (as compared to previous caulk I've used). It also smelled stronger and when I read the container, it said it releases methenol during curing and to remove contact lenses before use?? That's when I started realizing I had purchased the wrong stuff. Is this toxic?? Is it okay to use indoors in such a wide application vs just a window or a door? Should I try to remove it? It's been 24 hours and the minty smell is gone, but we have kids and I am worried.
