pantry dilemma

We in the middle of a kitchen remodel. We are doing something different and putting our cooktop on the wall where our fridge currently is. Reason for this is to get more counter space and bigger hood with large cooktop. I also like cooking/prepping on the long side of the island. To do this we are getting rid of a walk in pantry that is 50” long and 40” deep. The wall oven will be in the space. My hang up is that I need some sort of pantry, and I want to use only about 24-36” of that space so I can make the cooktop area “grand”. I feel there must be a creative way to use the depth of the pantry to my advantage but pull outs can only go so deep. The room next to it is a playroom and I’m wondering if I should make it open up to that room and just use a closet type door so I can use the 40” of width and make it shallow. Any ideas for this space would be great! The floor plan below is our new one, in the bottom right corner where the double oven is is where the space opens to 40” deep.

I was looking at the layout for a place to put a pantry & I see some things to check 1st.

With all due respect, this layout needs some work.

The sink does not look centered to window

Are you doing the angled island?

The sink is far from the stove.

Is there another water source near stove to dump boiling water?

What is going in the green circled area?

oblong888, thanks for the thank you.

Do you have the more updated layout to post?

If a cabinet designer did this layout there are some basic things that are incorrect that I would I find concerning, for example the sink cabinet is not centered under the window.

The waste bin cabinet is not in the most useful place. When emptying plates, the dishwasher has to be closed or walked around. In this layout, I think it would be better in the island near the sink to throw prep scraps in turn around rinse dishes, then put into dishwasher.

I really don't see a place for a regular deep pantry cabinet based off the layout posted. The other items have taken up the space. The only place I see possible would be 2 wall cabinets stacked on themselves to make a less deep pantry for extra storage where I circled in purple. If possible & nothing within the walls, could recess them. like this.

I don’t have the final layout, he is actually finishing it up and when I get it I can post. I agree on your thoughts with the waste and dishwasher but we are trying to keep the prep sink just for prep and the clean up sink for cleanup. So either way there is waste from prep and clean up but we decided to keep those items all together where we have them now. The dishwasher side is a little tight but that’s the space we currently have and it actually works out fine. We have about a foot of space when it’s open to walk around. But almost all of the items from the dishwasher fit to the left of it and I can just stand there and empty. I don’t usually put pots and pans etc in there.
I think we are going to eat some space into the next room for the pantry. It’s the only thing that makes sense to us and the corner is like a dead corner anyways.

I will double check that sink though. I didn’t pay that much attention but yeah I want it centered in the window! Thanks for noticing that also!
