Ceiling fan mounting bracket question

I’m trying to install a hunter ceiling fan I bought used. It’s missing the mounting bracket. I’ve been unable to find a 6 inch mounting bracket to purchase. I’m surprised/confused by this. Is there something I don’t know... such as a way to rig 5 1/2 inch mounting brackets to work in place of 6 inch?... or another way to hang a fan without a mounting bracket? Are some fans designed to use a different part instead of a mounting bracket?

You can get a remodeling fan bracket, very easy to install. Box Stores have them, Here Is The Link

Every fan I've mounted has a bracket which is part of a ball-and-socked system which allows the fan to move (slightly) when operating. Is that the bracket you're missing? If so, the person from whom you bought the fan probably left it attached to their ceiling box.
