Eggplants are more sensitive to low temperatures than peppers or tomatoes. Flowers will usually drop if temps get below 50F, and chilling injury will result. If by "edible" you mean good-sized, no, the fruit probably won't mature well in cool weather. Flowering in very cool weather may be a stress response.

You don't say where you are, but if your plant is in a microclimate it might produce for awhile. Mine is in a pot in an inclosed side yard with lots of heat-retaining materials, so it will be interesting to see how long it lasts.... and gives fruit.

Just updated my profile to indicate that I'm zone 9, Sunset zone 15 (near San Jose, CA). My eggplants are being grown in an Earth Box on patio. I haven't had any flowers drop yet, and plant still looks healthy.

Here in inland SoCA, our lows would dip into the high 30s and low 40s for the past month and my two Japanese eggplants are still flowering and fruiting. The fruits seem to be very slow in sizing up but some are now a good 6+ inches. Our highs do climb into the 60s and high 70s on some days but I'm surprised too that the eggplants haven't conked out like the peppers.

Its like new ground in the bay area. I had only one sub 40f night- 39f- in December. Third December in a row of no frost. A first in my going on 7 decades living here. I saw a large Papaya in a local yard. Tropical Papaya,not Babaco!

Looks darn good. Nice healthy green. If it's in a black bag or container near a warm wall...helps much too. You might even keep the container off the ground by an inch or so..and on sunny days it will be warmer than if on the cold floor.
