I like the 2nd option (with porch) although the porch could use a little more massaging to get it just right. The addition of a porch would help break up the long, linear nature of the house and would also give the entrance some prominence. I do like the garage doors in the 1st option though.

I think that’s great inspiration!! Really nice!! The brick is bothering me a bit. Maybe white wash it... I like white siding actualy. But I would like to see contrast. Possibly black trim. Brown door and garage ...

With bronze-charcoal gray trim is more drama :-)). I would stain brick in darker color to match wood

The proposed colour scheme sounds like it would look beautiful!

Having a porch with stairs leading towards the garage would provide good accessibility to guests parking on the driveway, when the garage is full. when extending it leftward, be considerate of privacy to those rooms with the windows.

For the garage doors, timber would definitely look great against a vinyl siding to emphasise the alluring garage door against the housing walls.

Having the bricks sand blasted clean with a darker mortar can also compliment the new vinyl and garage doors to create a more consistent colour decorate.

I see houses in this neighborhood where they have tacked on a craftsman style porch, and it just looks hokey. I think Celery's ideas well work much better for your house.

Yes, I agree that craftsman is the completely wrong direction. I live in a neighborhood of 50s and 60s ranches, and my neighbor down the street did a (very expensive and high quality) renovation where he added a craftsman porch like that and while the materials are all very nice, it looks all wrong. While your house isn't modern, it is mid century, and it's much easier and more true to your home's style and the era to lean in a modern direction than a craftsman one.

But if you aren't into modern and prefer a more traditional look, I think a more pared-down porch sort of like the one shown in the house with the wood garage doors could work just fine. I'm not wild about the wood garage doors with the grilles in the windows, it's too formal looking for your style of house and the lines take too much attention compared to the simpler lines of your house.

Craftsman style is referring the the picture with the peaked roof and white pillars on the porch is that correct? The edited picture provided was really useful!! Celery What material did you use on the porch area? Wood or brick?

I am not a contractor. I just gave you an idea. Stones are for steps, wood is for posts and roof.
