We got our tree today and so far just have lights and garland we will decorate it fully tomorrow. It is a perfect size for the room we use it is tall and skinny and pretty symmetrical.

We did outside at thanksgiving and our elf has been busy too.

Here is our tree! I love it because it fits our room perfectly!

I struggled whether to put my tree up this year or not. Decided I wasn't going to let this crappy year win. Grateful for my husband, my friends, our health and our home. I have been collecting ornaments from travels and gifts for the last 22 years. Well, this year I didn't go anywhere exciting, but I still added 2 new ornaments from a mega convenience store/gas station just 15 minutes up the road from me. My 2020 ornaments....the year I travelled to Buc'ee's......twice! :D

I'm so glad you did too, typeandrun. I got my tabletop tree from my office, brought it home and light it up during the day and evening. And like you I am glad I did. It felt so easy to fall into the "don't bother" mindset but making myself get out some decorations and put up the tree actually changed my feelings. I don't want to go through more time feeling negatively, which would only be worsened by skipping the season I love most of all. Taking that first step toward more positivity has happened through the joy and beauty of the Christmas season. It was worth the initial effort..

Agree with doing the seasonal decorating even just for us. We omitted the basement because that’s where our bar is and no entertainment where even we will spend time.

Happy Holidays everyone. I wasn’t going to put up a tree this year because we have since downsized & our home is under renovations. Also because of Covid, no gatherings this year. But then I bought a slim tree, put my favorite ornaments on it & I feel much more festive.

I heard on our news the sale of real Christmas trees has increased quite a bit this year. Early this week I stopped by the nursery where we bought our tree. Not a single tree was left, and they usually still have a good supply right now.

The local cut your own farms near me were sold out the weekend after Thanksgiving.

I think shes cute anyways.

Chloe bud, the owner was flabbergasted, he’d never sold out so fast in past years. This particular farm was the set for the cheesy Christmas movie The Spruces and the Pines.

I love seeing everyone’s decorations. I didn’t put as many out this year as usual. We put up a real tree and haven’t had one in years. I have about 30 eggs on my tree that were made by my aunt and are very special to me. All the eggs are decorated on the back with pearls, rhinestones, sequins etc.

Nine years ago we relocated for work as empty nesters and away from kids, siblings/ their families and our Moms. Since we travel back for Christmas, I’ve only put up a tree twice the last 9 years and really only do it cause hubs loves the decorations. However, this year, I WANTED to put up a tree. Not sure why but I think because it has been such a hard year and i just wanted to feel the spirit of the season. We put it up before Thanksgiving. And I think I may be sad to see it come down. Lol. Merry Christmas All!!

Cindy Warren Fialka - My grandmother took part in the Christmas egg fade, She also made round balls adorned with all the jewels. So many that my brother, sister, and I divided the lot. I adore them all!

The top of the china cabinet in the kitchen. We have candles and warm lights that go on at night for a nice effect.

@nhb22 thank you! I would never have had the patience to deal with all the little figures on the inside as well as all the pearls etc on the outside! She also made the jeweled balls. Did you post yours? Did I miss them?

You can see a couple on this tree from 2008. LOL I did not put them out for the last few years because we downsized our tree to a skinny tree. Currently, we are also in a rental house while building. I plan to put up a big tree when we move into the new house.

I just went to the basement to take a photo of my portion of Christmas balls. I don't know where my eggs are. One is huge and beautiful with The Virgin Mary and baby Jesus! I think my grandmother made it out of a Legg's stocking container. You may be too young to know what those is. LOL

Cute story...I was showing my grandchildren a manger scene and my 4 year old granddaughter exclaimed that baby Jesus was asleep on the COUCH!!!

And that reminds me of another story that involved my niece. She was about 6 or 7 at the time. We were in church and she was drawing on the church bulletin. I asked to see what she had drawn. It was a picture of a tall building that had the letters HI above it. I asked what it meant and she replied "it's the inn where Jesus was born." Holiday Inn. :)

@nhb22 I am not too young to remember L’eggs lol. I’d still love to see your eggs if you find them.Your Christmas balls look reminiscent of mine but whatever they’re covered in (the ball itself) looks a little different. You have a lot more than I do. Baby Jesus asleep on the couch and the Holiday Inn story are precious! I have 28 and 26 year old daughters who aren’t married yet so no grandchildren here. Here are a couple more eggs for good measure. Lol

Thank you for correcting the name of the stocking containers. I had forgotten they were spelled that way. LOL I think that a lot of crafts were made out of those! Your eggs are very unique.

It will be at least a year before I uncover the rest of my decorations.

I do not have a junk drawer in my kitchen so need for baskets unless they are empty and decorative. I'm a bit of a less is more person. Not quite a minimalist, but I despise clutter.

The guys are going out today to find a tree in the woods. It'll be a little Charlie Brownie, much like this year. We need the love! We're still in the last phase of the last part of the house remodel. It includes the foyer and upstairs bathroom, in the middle of the house! So, I did not decorate this year. I did do this- too much time on ebay!

It kept me busy while we wait, wait and wait more for the plumber.......
