I don't think I've ever used glue. Is it like spray adhesive?

What I meant by the glue is as follows. Whenever I had to nest two seams while sewing the block together, I used Elmer's School Glue to secure them instead of just pinning them. I used the glue slightly diluted and dispensed from a tiny bottle with a small dispenser tip. Then I touched the seam intersection with the iron to dry the glue. When I sewed the seams, they never slipped, and the seams matched perfectly. It's a little more work, but probably a lot faster than ripping seams to readjust and sew again. If this still isn't clear, I can post a few photos.

Here you go, Caroline.

Two pieces of a block that you want to join with the seams aligning. Notice that the seams are ironed in opposite directions so the join "nests,"

Apply a thin line of glue in the seam allowance of the right side of one piece. Be sure to use Elmer's School Glue or another glue that washes out.

Align the pieces with the seams directly on top of each other. You can feel the seam allowances nest together.

Press for a couple of seconds to dry glue.

Sew your seam and then admire your perfect join.

I was thinking when I was posting the photos that I should have taken a picture of the bottle. It's called a micro-tip bottle, about 3" tall. I got mine through longarmquiltingsupplies.com I'm sure you can get them many other places too. I dilute the Elmer's School Glue, 1 part water, 2 parts glue. Shake well.

Yes, Fran, it's going to my ex-sister-in-law. She will be so surprised. I'm so happy. I was having trouble finding a backing for it. I went to the fabric warehouse yesterday, and lo and behold, there was a bolt of the fabric I used for the border. So I glue basted it today and will quilt it over the next couple of days.
