Should home elevator door match rest of interior doors?
Comments (2)I agree with PH Interiors. I wouldn't want to draw attention to it. If we were installing an elevator in a home where all the interior doors were frosted glass, then we would use frosted glass for the elevator door as well. In all other installations, we've used the same door style as the rest of the house. It just looks better. See attached photo....See MoreSmall Board Batten Farm House-Interior Design Style Confusion
Comments (16)It seems my stainless post has moved over here...I ordered all new Samsung stainless appliances this weekend. The Labor Day sales, 30% off, 5% , 2 years no interest, free install, free delivery, free haul away, etc. at Best Buy sealed the deal. I went with Samsung because I have a tiny kitchen and apparently we were smoking something when we designed the refrigerator space because I had a selection of about 8 fridges that would fit (I looked everywhere) and the Samsung was the only one that wasn't over $2K. BB had one of the floor so I could see what it looked like...French door, nice. I like the white overhaul idea to brighten things up and think it would look nice, but I don't think I'm ready to paint the trim just yet as it is all custom woodwork...started out as rough cut. The photos are dark, but the walls are actually pretty light, but I'm still leaning toward repainting with light grays and yellows. The couch and chair are probably heading into the basement when the basement is finished this winter. I hope to put a lighter couch in the space...animal dilemma still a factor as the leather has held up so well over the last 14 years. Thanks for the input!...See MoreHelp me find a kitchen style to match this 1920's interior
Comments (29)Well, of the last three I like the second kitchen best you just posted, no surprise. You really seem to know what you want, but then I don't think you do, especially after you post three such random kitchens. I'd keep looking. I feel I have given it my all with a 1920 nod to the past and trying to incorporate a more modern flair without going too modern. Since I have invested some time in this post, I would like to share that I believe sleek glossy modern cabinets would not give this kitchen the look it deserves, given the façade. If anything, the fact that the original features of this home have been gutted should send a lesson that stripping a home of features original to it, fighting instead of complementing what is already there and adding anything contrary to the original style of the house is done at your own peril. I wish you and your home well. Good luck with your home and your hunt....See MoreWhat Interior Design Style Would Suit This New Build?
Comments (39)Oohhhh...I remember dark jade green carpet in the '80's! Yikes! Nope. Not going there ever. Lol. I think I am happiest with neutral decor, touches of grey and black, wth pops of yellow, white, ...what you would call understated elegance, with timeless appeal. Now I know what I want, I will have to wait til I move in and see how the creamy beige sofa's look ...so excited to get it all together! Been renting temporarily for seven months, this place looks like a FED-Ex warehouse...boxes stacked to the ceiling in most rooms. We are living like hoarders, lol. Oh well, short term pain for long term gain! ;) thank you everyone for your input. You have been awesome to try to help me!...See MoreStax
