Why not keep it? It’s different. The only way it could have matched is if you color matched your cabinets.

Looks like a really nice fridge but my choice would be stainless. White cabinets usually look creamier next to appliance white. Do your other appliances match the fridge? If you love it, have that glass of wine...or two.

Our wall ovens are the same kitchenaid line, but in stainless. I feel like the appliances coordinate well, because the handles are the same, and the oven windows break up the stainless.

Did you know you can paint a refrigerator? Just a thought.

And that's what really counts. Opinions are all over the place when it comes to appliance color/finish. You're the best judge of your own kitchen.

I would change it. That would drive me crazy.

If it doesn’t bother you, may as well leave it. The differences would catch my eye whenever I walked in, if it were mine, but not everybody would worry about it. Could exchange for stainless, paint it, could get a wrap for it.

My white refrigerator and dishwasher don't strictly match my creamy-white cabinetry. It worried me when everything was initially installed but I quickly stopped noticing.

I would have a glass of wine, and order it in stainless tomorrow. It will bug you every time you see it.

That color mis-match would drive me batty. Another vote for stainless.

I couldn't live with it - exchange it for stainless. They've got great ones now that are fingerprint resistant.

Mismatched whites are the worst!!! Definitely switch to stainless and only clean with stainless cleaner, Weiman makes great wipes, and you won’t have a rust problem.

Eh, I hate stainless enough that I would keep the mismatch. I've regretted my stainless fridge since the day it was delivered.

FWIW, we've never had the rust problem with stainless appliances I've seen mentioned here. My own experience is stainless is far easier to keep clean than white appliances.

It clearly bothers you or you wouldn’t have posted this. Do you honestly think you will ever be happy with it? If the answer is yes, keep it. If no, return it and get SS.

I like it but I’d put down a runner there in a pattern w whites and other colors . Greens ? blues and yellows or some colors you like? In an alcove ? leave the unit.

Have you thought about Slate? GE makes this. I'm debating the same issue in my white kitchen. Don't want stainless either. I wouldn't keep the new one because you know you don't love it.

How does the entire kitchen look with it? The photo is sort of gloomy. (I suspect your lighting isn't in.) And it looks like the fridge is half concealed by a wall. Is it? If so, let it be! It also looks like the walls are the color of the fridge...

Another one voting for stainless. Don’t find it hard to keep clean and I have daily visits from three grandchildren under 5 who know where the ice cream is located.

Honest opinion here: it would drive me nuts. Not a terrible mistake at all. The best kind of mistakes are ones that can be returned, and then exchanged for a better choice. Go stainless!

i had white appliances in 90s that matched the white cabinets. The whites not matching would drive me nuts. I also ended up painting the white fridge black when i moved I replaced it with a stainless it just turned 15 and now in garage no rust I bought another stainless but considered white so i get wanting change. I would paint it to match cabinets or get stainless I could not live with the mismatch Appliances painting is easy but I also get not wanting to do it to something brand new.

But maybe you can also find a foil in the color of the cabinets. I think if the refrigerator is the same tone as the cabinets, it looks very good. The color difference is clearly visible now, I don't think I would be happy with that in the long run. I definitely wouldn't leave it like that. Either you try to change the color of the refrigerator or you send it back. Depending on whether you want to try it or not.

You have a little bit of a dilemma, clearly. If you instantly knew what you wanted to do, you wouldn't have asked online. But, really, no one can answer this question but you. First you said you don't like stainless steel. Then you said you fell in love with the refrigerator. And once installed, the white vs what turned out to be cream cabinets, is bothering you. It really only boils down to, what bothers you more, having stainless, losing the refrigerator you love, or living with the difference in color of the cabinets with the appliance.

I agree with the person who said you were never going to get a perfect match unless you color matched custom cabinets.

I would suggest you live with the refrigerator a week or two and see how you feel at that point. Then just decide which solution you like the best. It doesn't matter what me or anyone else here likes best. Unless there is another option, I don't know what it would be. You certainly can't change the cabinets. You could use black refrigerator if you don't like stainless, but that's going in a whole other direction. You could look for a different color refrigerator to replace with so you wouldn't end up with stainless, but I am unfamiliar with what is available now. That's it. Good luck!

On a positive note, I like how the fridge is recessed in the wall. The installation looks great.

You can use peel & stick wallpaper to cover the fridge & pick a pattern and colors that match the decor. That's what I'm doing with my fridge-- I'm getting stainless but am not a fan. Lots of tutorials online.

Imo, the color of fridge issue depends on the rest of the kitchen & appliances. If there's other items in the kitchen that balance out the color of the fridge through out it may be fine.

However, if it's the only item in the kitchen that color, could be an issue. Depends on if it bothers you. If you just bought it & it bothers you, then return it before it's too late to do so. Find something that matches the other kitchen colored features as a whole.

If it is too late to return or you love the fridge for other reasons than color, there's an option to get a vinyl pro to wrap it.

I wouldn't call this a terrible mistake, however it is an oversight and one that you have to either decide to live with, change, or alter your original kitchen design for.

You're pretty much never going to get an exact match in whites unless you get a panel-ready refrigerator.

Consider its place in the overall kitchen (which the rest of us don't see from the pic).

Does it make sense to paint the cabinets just in that refrigerator wall and keep this white fridge you love? How would swapping to a different color affect the rest of the room? Were you trying to go for an integrated look? If that was the case, there's only so much you can do with a free-standing stock fridge instead of a built-in panel one.

Much as I don't like stainless, I guess I'd do what you're doing. That mismatch would drive me crazy.

I think you've made a good choice to exchange for stainless. Your cabinets will again look crisp and lovely against the stainless.

I hate my stainless - they are almost never really clean. When we redo kitchen next year I will pay extra for appliances that have cabinet panels attached. I know they are more costly but I just hate the look of stainless that has strikes or spills or whatever else.

Snowbound has brown undertones. Read the color drop "recipe" and you will see it has gold or yellow, exact formula depends on the type of paint used.

Honestly looks more of a light/sky blue than it does white.. some brass hardware would help it flow better!

I’m a fan of white appliances. I’m a fan of mixing creamy white cabinets with brighter white appliances. I am not a fan of stainless steel appliances. Here’s my kitchen:

Do you love the ref? Then keep it. Stainless is just another color. I don't think this is so horrible. I see many white kitchens with white farm sinks that aren't the same or trim on the windows that is a different shade of white or even different whites on the ceilings. This appears to be tucked away a little and not in the center of the room.

Maybe if you post some pictures from further away so we can see it in the full space...

Looks like a lot of shadows with your lighting that makes the fridge appear so different (and it's not really THAT different). Maybe more consistent lighting in that area would help if it really bothers you that much.
