I am remodeling the kitchen area of a studio guest house. The space is approximately 6' long x 7' wide. On one side, there is a counter with sink, cupboards above and below, and an under-counter fridge. The existing set up is not great quality and I am planning on replacing it.

There is a door and gas heater on the opposite side which will be replaced with solid wall. i envisage the space with 3 x 24" wide items - a full height fridge, a cooker and counter space. Originally I thought of a galley kitchen but now am thinking of a 12' deep counter at the wall end of the kitchen to provide additional counter space.

The whole space is a rectangular building of 340 sq ft - I can push out into the studio but this will cut down on the living space so I am hoping to keep it within the 6' x 7' area. The floors are wood and are staying that way. This living space will either be rented or I may live in it myself, and rent out the main house. I would like it to be comfortable with decent quality - love recycled if not too difficult to source.

Although the space is small, there is a patio outside with a gazebo cover to provide additional indoor/outdoor space. I live in southern California so much of the year outside space is very complementary to inside space.

The main house is 1950s, small, with cottage feel; the surrounding garden area is planted very informally English cottage style though not as lovely as i would like.
