A stain is a color not a finish. Appears that there was no finish on the table and grease soaked into the wood. You need to contact the person who did the "matte stain".
Meanwhile you can try to absorb the grease. Try rubbing corn starch into the stain and then brushing it off....and vacuum any residue.

Thank you!! Funny thing is is that it really was a matte finish they put on it. It wasn’t finished when we purchased it and we had it resanded and finished so it wouldn’t soak up every spill. I had them do a matte tho, since I wanted to make it look as close as possible to the original table. Hm!! 🤔 unfortunately due to covid the company is no longer in business :( ill try the corn starch solution and hope it helps!!!
