Counter Top Miele 5300 coffee machine - advice/feedback

last modified: 4 years ago

Looking for feedback from the Houzz community.

I have been eyeing the Miele 5300 coffee system (countertop).

I am the only coffee drinker, so does not need to be high capacity.

Looking for a good daily coffee (black), with the weekend cappuccino/latte type routine.

So I am thinking of the Miele 5300 machine. Some reviewers suggest that it makes a hot coffee, which is important to me, as not all super automatics make a hot coffee (yes I will preheat the cup).

So what feedback/regrets do you have on the Miele countertop machines?

There are not a lot of reviews.

Thank you.

Jan.

I love my Nespresso and friends just got the Vertuo and it makes regular and caps . I have never been a lover or Miele appliances and their built in one has had many isses for my clients.

I have the 6xxx series - the next one up. They are basically the same except the milk function.

The coffee is certainly hot enough and you can play with coffee types to find the one you like. There is a reasonable amount of ongoing care daily/weekly/monthly. Not difficult but if you are never change the oil in the car kinda person it may be too much. It also takes up some counter real estate

We have also used the Nespresso and liked that a lot. Good news is the coffee is excellent, but does add up if you drink American sized cups (vs the smaller European) Machines are smaller

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I have fully researched the maintenance requirements and will commit to keeping the machine cleaned etc.

Jborge: how are you liking your CM5300? We bought one 3 months ago or so. We have a Miele Dishwasher and stove about 20 years almost trouble free (knock on wood), so we love the brand. I'm retired, so have time for the CM5300 maintenance.

I sent it back for repair due to inconsistent milk quantity and frequent issues with the right side milk spout not working. Just got it back yesterday. I think some of the issues relate to maintenance with the milk pipe; not sure whether the "repair" center addressed those. I think you have to Rinse the milk pipe every day (start and finish) you drink a milk drink and Clean it weekly.

    What beans do you use?

When the CM5300 works, which is almost all of the time, it is heaven.

I returned my Miele Coffee machine and paid the restocking fee.

I did not find it as convenient as marketed and having an engineering background realized all the technical challenges that go into these types of machines regardless of brand. I was afraid of the long-term costs of the maintenance and repairs and decided to go back to the old fashion way of making coffee with way fewer parts. Also, I realized in the morning I like a large mug of black coffee, which these types of machines struggle to do. This is my own personal view, not to discourage anybody from owning one. If you are reading this, and are buying the built-in machine, make sure to get the longest warranty possible on the machine.

Thank you for replying. i can certainly appreciate your decision. It takes some work and dedication to keep it cleaned, especially for milk drinks, which is why we got it. We bought a countertop, and plan to get the extended warranty before the 12-month warranty runs out.
