Any color can work here. But my first change would be to make a straight Long Island rather than the shape you have now. Do you not want to replace the counters because you want them for you. Or can we donate them to a worthy cause and get you new ones? I also think we need to wait on backsplash until you decide on the color cabinets, if your saving the tops. And if your changing anything else. But I’d like to see something with more detail than color here. Something that looks authentic and handcrafted

What exactly do you have in mind with an authentic and handcrafted flair? I was actually thinking about changing the bar to an island too. Like the idea. But feel the space is to small for an big island. There is a pantry next to the wall oven. I thought about replacing that door with an old tall French door set covering the entire space - what do you think?

I don’t have a specific tile in mind I just think the texture is important in a kitchen like this. I love the sound of the doors! LIKE LOVEEEE!! Please do it!!

I think your kitchen is very nice. I don’t think I’d do major stuff like changing the peninsula to an island or anything without doing a total remodel because one thing tends to lead to the next. I think your cabs a nice color, and the counters and tile work well with them. I do like your idea of doing a hood with some open shelving nearby, but I would honestly not do that until you do a total remodel either. Maybe get a colorful runner, change the knobs on the cabinet doors and perhaps a new paint color for the walls. This might make help to bring that color in that you are longing for without getting into structural changes until you are ready for that complete remodel, which you really don’t need right now.
