You'll need to take a scrap piece of red oak and see how the stain works. You may need a custom mix, as red oak can develop a pink hue when stained a lighter color. You also need to consider any sun entering these areas, as it will affect the floor colors, over time.

It will be tough to match Red Oak treads to a white finished White Oak plank. your best bet probably lies with using Bona NordicSeal that's tinted slightly gray.

Could you share poctures of your seashell as im looking into that t color

Lighting can vastly change the way the floors look, particularly in pictures, but these pictures are a good representation of the color. We love them!

thank you they are beautiful. do these need re oiling like other hallmark lines do? and do they leave water spots etc. i have a golden retriever and a 1 year old and im struggling with this decision. also have you seem pearl oak compared to this color? what were the differences if so. sorry for all of the wuestions, sleepless nights daelling on ehat flooring to choose haha

I don’t see pink undertones in the up close pictures at all . i also have been looking at shaw lyric but am worried it may pull pink which is what i am trying to avoid. do you feel this color is pretty neutral without a lot of undertones?

We’ve only had them a year, so I’m no expert yet. I don’t believe they require regular re-oiling, however, Hallmark does offer a couple of oils that you can use to either renew or restore the finish as you see fit. We have a dog and 2 young kids, and water is constantly dripping on the floors, but as long as it’s wiped up, it shouldn’t leave water marks. Hallmark sent a bottle of their nu-Oil floor cleaner that I use periodically, otherwise I generally use a water/vinegar solution and they stay looking fresh. I did see a sample of the pearl oak when we were looking at flooring, and it is quite a bit lighter than the seashell. The seashell oak has very subtle pink/gray undertones compared to some of the other finishes, but that was our preference compared to the yellow/orange undertones in the sandal and marina oak finishes. They are lighter in color and really beautiful. I hope this helps a little, and trust me, I too agonized over our flooring choice, and we are extremely happy with the seashell oak. I would say they’re mostly very neutral with grayish colored knots and graining. The planks vary in tone and grain pattern too which I like because it gives the floors a much more natural look.

Jschwartz55 I’ve been losing sleep trying to pick floors out too! Who would have thought it would be this hard?! I was only looking at LVP at first since I have one dog and two young boys but i decided to not rule out engineered hardwood. I have the sample of Venture Dune and I really like it a lot. How have your floors held up with your kids and dog? Are they easy to keep clean? Do they scratch very easy?
