Hello Everyone,

I want to install Wall Control Wall Control 16 Inch metal pegboard panels on a wall. Link to the product below.

My problem is the place where I want to install them have studs that located inconsistently from each other and they are not 16 inches apart. I want to ask community for advice on how I may install them.

Please see pictures below to show how my studs are located. I marked with green masking tape where the studs are.

My personal idea was to screw 1x4x8 wood planks to the studs through drywall across top, mid and bottom and screw those panels onto those wood planks. Where it is possible, I will try to screw panels both onto wood planks and studs. I will paint 1x4x8 in white so the blend in with a wall behind them. With my idea, I don’t like that metal pegboard will be moved away from the wall. Metal pegboards that I am installing have space behind them already. I also have a concern that 1x4x8 may not be enough to hold screws which in turn will have to support a lot of weight.

I want to stay away from drywall anchors. In fact, I am only going to use two of them, Toggle Bolt Anchors, and they will serve more of the balancing function in two places where I can screw wood planks only to two studs.
