Hi, We just bought a 1965 home, and I had mold testing done prior to moving in. We had a remediation team come in and clean (there was no visible mold, just slightly elevated levels in the unfinished section of the basement.) In the finished area, I had smelled what I thought was a musty smell. It has sense gotten better, but is not completely gone. I had the team remove the carpet that was there, fully expecting concrete underneath. To my surprise, there was a wooden subfloor underneath. They fogged underneath it by drilling holes in-between the joists. Now we would like carpet again. We had Empire come and they have a carpet that is supposedly mold, mildew, odor resistant with a built in moisture proof carpet pad. Is there any reason that this is a bad idea to put down over the raised wood sublayer? I understand the concrete underneath will be "breathing" and releasing some moisture. I don't think there is any moisture barrier or anything. Is there a concern about moisture getting "trapped" between either the concrete and the wood, or the wood and the carpet pad?
