Need new ceiling "puck" style lights.

I'm having the bedroom which had been converted to an office back to a bedroom, in preparation for a resale. As an office, it had track lighting on the ceiling (2 tracks) and the real estate agent suggested making this change. I want to install lights at each of the points where the tracks were wired; the two tracks had separate wall switches. All there is on the ceiling is a hard wired 1/2" fitting. Of course, I could mount a box with the center knockout removed, but, if it exists, I would like a simple fixture which could legally act as a box. If I mount the box, then the fixture wouldn't be flush with ceiling. Any suggestions?

What does that fitting connect to? Conduit and/or a junction box maybe?

The new no-housing flush LED ceiling lights only require the right size hole in the ceiling (mine are 4") and access to the electrical line in the ceiling.

The light comes with a small junction box (about 1.5 times the size of a cigarette pack) and you put that up in the ceiling and connect it the 120 volt wiring, and hang it on a nail or screw. There is a very flexible wire pigtail coming off the box and you connect that to the light housing. Then you push back the spring-loaded retainers and pop the light into the sheetrock. If you used larger diameter lights (6", etc.) it would give you even more access to the inside of the ceiling.

That sounds perfect. The existing connection is a 1/2" conduit fitting extending about 3/4" below the surface of the ceiling, so any fixture with a knockout for that size would be perfect, assuming there's enough room for the wires and wire nuts.
